Oatmeal Muffins

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1. flour
- 1 c. buttermilk or milk
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ½ c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- ⅓ c. shortening or margarine, softened
- ½ tsp. soda
- 1 c. quick oats
Directions
Mix wet ingredients. Combine dry ingredients. Make a well in the center of dry ingredients and dump in wet ingredients. Mix batter by hand. Batter will be lumpy. If desired add cinnamon or nutmeg. Bake in muffin tin at 400° for 20 minutes. Makes 1 dozen.
