Sour Cream Cinnamon Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • ½ c. shortening
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. sugar
  • ¼ c. milk

Cinnamon/sugar mixture

Ingredients

  • ¼ c. sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp. orange zest
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat. Blend in sour cream and milk. Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Makes 2 pans (7.5"x3.5"x2"). Grease pans. Spread ¼ batter in both pans. Sprinkle one half of the cinnamon/sugar mixture over the batter. Add the remainder of the batter. Spread the other half of the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top. Swirl the sugar through the batter with a toothpick. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing.
