Wheat Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • ½ c. hot water
  • 2 c. luke warm water
  • ½ c. brown sugar
  • 2 T. granulated sugar
  • 3 T. shortening
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. whole wheat flour
  • 3 c. white flour

Directions

Soften yeast in warm water. Add granulated sugar, salt, and white flour. Beat until smooth. Let rise until light and bubbly (approx 1 hr.). Combine hot water with brown sugar and shortening. Cool to luke warm. Add to yeast mixture. Add whole wheat flour. Let rise. Knead, shape, and let rise. Bake at 375° for 50 minutes.
