Chocolate Praline Cake

Ingredients

  • ½ c. butter (no margarine)
  • 1 pkg. Devil's food cake mix
  • ¼ c. whipping cream
  • 1 ¼ c. water
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • ⅓ c. oil
  • ¾ c. coarsely chopped pecans
  • 3 eggs

Directions

Heat oven to 325°. In small heavy pan combine butter cream, brown sugar, and pecans. Cook over low heat just until butter is melted, stirring occasionally. Pour into 8 x 12 cake pan. In large bowl, combine cake mix, water, eggs, and oil at low speed. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed. Carefully spoon batter over pecan mixture. Bake for 45 minutes or until done. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan praline side up.

Topping

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ c. whipping cream
  • ¼ t. vanilla
  • ¼ c. sugar
  • pecans, chocolate curls (if desired)

Directions

Beat cream. Blend in sugar and vanilla. Beat until stiff peaks form. Spread on cool cake.
