English Toffee

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ c. sugar
  • ½ c. water
  • ¼ c. light Karo syrup
  • 1 lb. butter
  • 12 oz. milk chocolate chips
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Directions

Do NOT double recipe, it won't work.

Melt butter, add Karo, sugar and water. Mix well and pour into buttered heavy saucepan. Cook on high until boiling starts, stir constantly. Turn to medium low and cook to 305°(hard crack). Pour in thin sheet on Pam sprayed cookie sheet lined with whole pecans. Put chocolate chips on hot syrup and spread as they melt. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Cool. Takes about 1 hour to make.
