Maxine's Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 14 oz. Kraft caramels
  • ⅔ c. evaporated milk
  • 1 (6 oz. ) pkg. chocolate chips
  • ½ c. butter
  • 1 c. nuts

Directions

Grease and flour 9x13 pan. Melt caramels in ⅓ c. milk; set aside to cool. Combine cake mix, nuts, butter and remaining ⅓ c. milk. Press half of the mixture into pan and bake 6 minutes at 350. Sprinkle chocolate chips, then pour over the caramel mixture. Then crumble remaining mixture over caramel. Bake at 350° for 15-18 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Yields 36 brownies.
