Raisin Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 ½ c. raisins
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. water
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 ½ c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 eggs
Directions
Boil raisins and water until almost dry. Let cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and mix well. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and soda together. Add flour mixture alternately with raisins to shortening mixture. Add vanilla; mix. Roll into balls, then in sugar. Flatten with glass. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes. Makes approx. 5 dozen.
