Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 can tomatoes (3 ½ c.) or ¾ bottle of spaghetti sauce
  • 8 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 6-8 oz. mozzarella cheese
  • 1 envelope spaghetti sauce mix
  • 1 c. cottage cheese
  • 1 (8-oz.) tomato sauce
  • ½ c. parmesan cheese, grate

Directions

Brown meat slowly and spoon off excess fat. Add tomatoes and sauce mix, or ¾ bottle of spaghetti sauce. Add tomato sauce and garlic. Cover and simmer 40 minutes, stirring constantly. Salt to taste. Cook noodles in boiling salted water until tender, drain. Rinse noodles in cold water. Place ⅓ noodles in an 11 x 7 baking dish; cover with ⅓ sauce. Add ½ mozzarella cheese then ½ cottage cheese. Repeat layers, ending with sauce. Top with parmesan cheese. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. Cut in squares to serve.
